Once experimental, implants are now routinely used to replace missing teeth. Dental implants can be used to support permanent crowns or bridges, and removable partial or full dentures. While the most common situation is for a single implant to replace one missing tooth, implants can truly be a godsend for those without any teeth at all. Many denture wearers have an impossible time keeping their dentures in place. In the past, there was no real solution. But now, add several implants under that same denture, and it can become "rock-solid." While not appropriate for all situations, implants are most definitely the way of the future for those with missing teeth.
